Action Can Be Your Best Friend

I am all over the place when it comes to sitting down and honouring a time space when it comes to certain things. For example, exercising, writing, meditating, reading, shooting, photoshopping. I feel like I should be more organized and disciplined in that regard. Writing it down is one thing, action is a whole other category that needs improvement. Although my marks are excellent and I feel like I am a good student, I cause unnecessary stress by leaving certain things last minute. The other night I did make a list of things I needed to get done and I found that helped lay out a visual map of my goals. Probably a good habit to get into. My mom was the queen of writing stuff down or else life would have been a bit more chaotic for sure! I should learn from her, she had more motivation than me at this point, but I figured out why I get stuck in that cyclical rut.

On another point, I feel a newer me emerging like the metaphorical phoenix rising from the ashes. Everyone veers on and off their path sometimes and I feel like I'm finally making another full circle again. It's refreshing but also hard work, I've been feeling a higher calling lately. So now is the perfect time to relearn how to sit inside myself and beckon to the call of Love. Here's one of my favourite excerpts from Kahlil Gibran's, The Prophet. I came across it today while ruffling through my bookshelf. Helped me to regain some focus.

"When love beckons to you, follow him, though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him, though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, so shall he descend to your ROOTS and shake them clinging to the earth. Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself. He threshes you to make you naked. He sifts you to free you from your husks. He grinds you to your whiteness. He kneads you until you are pliant.; And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.
All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.
But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure, then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out on love's threshing-floor, into seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears."
- The Prophet, pg.11-12.

Christmas Break Finally!!!

So finally my first semester of my last year of photography is over!!!
I couldn't be any happier. I was getting pretty stressed towards the end there. But somehow I always come out fine. :D

I'm going to be collaborating with a friend soon who is also a painter! Looking forward to having a muse finally. LoL. Dave doesn't like to be as photographed as I wish him to be! But that's ok. Hence why I'm glad I ran into Shirra.
